Chartiers Greenway

Chartiers Creek flowing through Chartiers Greenway.

The Chartiers Greenway is a 12-acre parcel of land in Upper St. Clair and South Fayette Townships which straddles Chartiers Creek in several areas.  The land is predominantly dense, young forest.  ALT’s interest in this parcel derives from the stream frontage on Chartiers Creek and the forested floodplain habitat.  ?The land serves as an overflow area at times of high water and as a riparian buffer that helps filter runoff into Chartiers Creek.

In late 2011, Allegheny Land Trust partnered with Upper St. Clair Citizens for Land Stewardship (USCCLS) to extend the greenway along Chartiers Creek.  ALT received the property through a private donation.  Money raised by USC Citizens for Land Stewardship and a matching grant from ALT Board members provided stewardship funds for the property.
